TwitchRaiser

About the project

This project came about as part of a 48 hour hackathon that took place at the company last summer. Self-organized teams were given 48 hours to design, test and develop any idea they had. After the 48 hours were over, teams presented their projects to the company and the top 10 projects were voted upon.

Our team decided to focus on the game streaming service Twitch, where we asked ourselves:

How might we enable gamers to raise money for a charity of their choice while streaming?

Consequently, we came up with a concept called TwitchRaiser. I was the only designer on our team, aptly named TwitchStars, and I was in charge of coming up with the overall workflow and styling for the feature.

The outcome

Due to the very strict time-constraints of the project, the outcome of the project was essentially three screens that allowed the user to sign into Twitch, get a link token that then allows them to connect TwitchRaiser to their twitch account and begin raising money for their favorite charity!

During a second hackathon, we started with this project and implemented a chat-bot to help users on the stream donate money more efficiently.

!donate-help - Lists all the commands that the bot uses

!donate-now - Starts the conversation to donate

This project placed top 10 in the hackathon and became an official project the company took on building. Since then, different designers have worked on the project and have produced many iterations. The project is now called StreamRaiser and is live and available for use here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ideas/gaming/livestreaming
